Universal Course Design (UCD) address the diversity of students' learning styles in today's college classrooms. UCD provides concrete strategies to vary the development of course curriculum, instruction, assessment, and teaching environment so all students have equal access to a course.

This website will allow you to easily build a UCD syllabus. Syllabi are often the first thing that a student sees when they begin your course. However, the traditional text-heavy method in which they are written can often be a barrier to students with diverse learning styles. The UCD syllabus consists of additional methods for students to engage with the course material, reducing logistical confusion and ensuring that students have full access to your course.

In the future, this website will also host tools for adding UCD strategies to course various instruction and assessments.

We would also like to direct you to the UCD website (www.universalcoursedesign.org) which hosts a number of tools that you can use to incorporate UCD into your course or within your institution. Some of the tools you will find there include:

In addition, project staff are available as consultants as you work to integrate UCD onto your campus. Please contact Debra Hart (debra.hart@umb.edu) for more information.
